One of the keys to ensuring your biases don't lead you to limit yourself or others is to learn to see them. Seeing them can be hard, and helping others see theirs can be even harder. Your ability to reduce the impact of your own biases, and those in others whom you influence, starts with acknowledging them. Because--remember?--you've definitely got biases.

Once you can see your own bias more clearly, you can share your experience with others. You can share with others that even though you don't consider yourself a ___ist you were able to learn for yourself how unconscious your preferences were. You can share your own victories about how you're learning to overcome these biases and encourage people who respect you to explore their own biases more deeply.
