Let’s consider Ned Hermann’s Whole Brain Model. His model focuses on brain dominance and how that impacts how a person learns information. It explores ways that facilitators and designers can present information that meets the needs of learners with a particular thinking preference. The Whole Brain model states that there are four brain quadrants: A (logical), B (organized), C (interpersonal), and D (imaginative). When designing training for adult learners make sure that it includes the following components: opportunities for the learner to analyze the content or interact with the content to problem solve; make sure the information is organized and has a clear and concise flow; include in your design an opportunity for the learner to interact with others, perhaps in a group activity or an opportunity to explain concepts on their own; finally include creative and innovative aspects that will allow the learner to be imaginative and artistic.
