When it comes to adult learning, understanding the 'whys' is important, but there are other considerations!

  1. Adults need to know that what they are learning is ACHIEVABLE

This means that the more we know about our adult learner the better so that we can aim the learning at the right level for them so that they feel confident that they can do it as well as not feeling that it's too easy and therefore that there is no challenge involved.
We can motivate and encourage our adult learners by ensuring they obtain a number of small achievements along their learning journey so that they feel like they are making progress. Breaking the learning down into smaller chunks (sometimes referred to as micro-learning) ensures that we are not overloading our learners with information and they can achieve some 'quick wins' along the way.
