Now that you are convinced of the importance of grammar, here are some resources that will help you learn what you need to know and improve.

Below you will find a list of resources and descriptions including what they offer so you can build your grammatical muscles.

Khan Academy is also a wonderful resource for learning grammar. For no charge, you have access to videos, written notes and practice exercises that will enhance your learning. What I love about Khan Academy is how organized and sequential it is. The content is developed by educators so it’s just like taking a real class. The link below is another good example of ways Khan can help you improve your grammar for work.

GrammarBytes is also an amazing collection of resources on grammar and it’s all free! It includes lessons, an opportunity for an official online course, practice exercises, a Twitter community, youtube videos and more.

Lousy Writer has handy cheat sheets for reminding yourself of those pesky common grammatical errors.  Also, you can use the resources at this site to begin to write ads, blog posts, and other digital features.

One of the top resources for online grammar assistance is Grammarly. Grammarly is a Chrome add-on that corrects grammar mistakes and provides insight that will help you learn about the mistake so you don’t make it again. You can download the chrome link here.

This site below has a list of other, formalized online courses you could sign up for to support your learning. It has a range of courses from very basic to more advanced.

Grammar Girl, Mignon Fogarty, has created a blog and podcast dedicated to teaching grammar tips and helping subscribers understand common grammar mistakes. The site is blog-style making it easy to read and the podcasts can be taken on the go and listened to as you commute to work.

The following options are great but you have to pay a small fee to have full access to the provided resources.

Daily Grammar is basically an entire course worth of grammar lessons. Check out the “Lessons” Page for a full listing of learning opportunities. Each lesson includes a brief written description of the topic, practice and a quiz at the end. These lessons are free and a workbook is available for a small fee.

English Grammar 101 is an online workbook/textbook for learning grammar. You can access the lesson text for free but in order to do the practice problems, you’ll need to sign up. It costs about $26 for six months.

Reflection

There are several sites, blogs, and texts listed above that can transform your writing from good to great in a small amount of time.  The goal is consistency and focus.  Pay attention as you write and continue to develop your grammar skills.  I strongly suggest you install Grammarly to help you when typing on your computer and to use Khan Academy's site as often as you can.

Based on the resources shared above, which ones are easiest for you to use and apply to improve your grammar skills?  What impact do you think developing your writing will have on your work performance?
