Every semester I invite a guest speaker to my business classes to talk about the importance of communication and soft skills. One of the questions that students often ask is, “What are you looking for in new hires today?” They are interested in how to stand out—how to be the one offered the job. This video is the answer to that question. In this short film, I’ve asked employers that—what qualities are you looking for in new hires today? Their answers may surprise you. I’ll give you a clue: the business professionals don’t talk much about GPA or SAT scores. However, they do talk about personal qualities that make people stand out.
