Learners are as varied as anything in nature. Imagine that each learner represents one specific type of household plant (think about several rather pretty ones). Would it be possible to nourish and cultivate every one of those learners with the exact same potting soil and watering can? Of course, some of those plants would flourish; however, the vast majority of those once beautiful plants will wither and dry up.

The "one size fits all" model of education does not work well with all learners. It's up to those delivering and developing educational content to embrace opportunities to provide for diverse educational experiences. Aside from addressing an individual's unique learning style, the implementation of diverse strategies provide an opportunity for learners to experiment with other techniques. For example, a learner who typically prefers listening to the instructor speak may partake in a more interactive experience involving the same content.

The goal of this path is to give you some insight into the various types of learners. Furthermore, we will explore how to leverage instructional design techniques to best deliver alternate options to traditional educational items.
